Cyber Security Intern 2024
The Cyber Security Intern will assist the Information Security Analyst in various tasks related to protecting our systems and data from cyber threats. The goal of this position will be to offer hands-on experience in the field of cybersecurity while learning from our cyber security experts.
Duties / Responsbilities:
- Monitor and respond to Phish reports and investigate suspicious emails and attachments.
- Monitor and analyze the alerts and logs from our Managed Detection and Response (MDR).
- Monitor and analyze logs from email and endpoint monitoring and alert tools.
- Manage and respond to alerts generated by monitoring tools, escalating issues to senior staff when necessary.
- Compile regular reports summarizing log analysis findings and any incidents that occurred, including recommendations for preventing future occurrences.
- Perform vulnerability scans and assessments on our network and systems and report any findings and recommendations.
- Assist in developing and updating security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Research and stay updated on the latest cyber security trends, threats, and solutions.
- Participate in security awareness and training initiatives for the staff.
What You Can Offer
- Currently enrolled in an Associate, Bachelor, or Masters Degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security, or a related field with a minimum of two semesters of Information Technology study.
- 1-2 years experience working with computers, technology, or a related discipline.
- Basic knowledge of cyber security concepts, principles, and tools.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and network protocols.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Passion and curiosity for learning new skills and technologies.
