Instructional designers oversee curriculums and teaching standards in the workplace. They develop instructional material, implement it, and assess its effectiveness.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and design courses and curriculum.
- Edit and develop learning materials.
- Create learning experiences and environments.
- Design learning activities, assignments, and assessments.
- Creates computer-based training (CBT) modules and storyboards.
- Develop instructor's manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools.
- Collaborate with subject experts to develop course content.
- Manages online learning communities.
- Analyzes, updates, and refines existing online content.
- Trains instructors and employees on how to use learning technologies.
- Facilitate discussion and collaboration via a variety of platforms.
- Keeps current on best practices in instructional design.
- Writes scripts for video and audio content.
- Works with technical staff to troubleshoot problems reported by users.
- Consults with departments to analyze business process-supporting technology needs, and document new processes for end-user retrieval of data and/or information. Promotes the use of technology and technology tools to support continued efficiency and improvement in departmental processes.
- Maintains central Intranet web pages. Tasks include coordinating and maintaining user interface, documenting processes and policies related to development, creating graphics and animations, and serving on web-related committees and projects.

- Working with Computers. Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Computer Based Training Software. Learning Management Systems, Adobe Systems and Microsoft Office Software
- Photo and video editing Software. Adobe Systems, Canva, Well Said Labs, iMovie, and QuickTime Player
- Training and Teaching Others. Identifying the educational needs of others, developing educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.
- Analyzing Data or Information. Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
- Coaching and Developing Others. Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree required
- Minimum 1-2 years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience
- Proficient in the use of computers
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Familiarity with learning management systems
- Strong working knowledge of content management software, including Adobe Captivate, Photoshop, and Canva.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred Travel Requirements:
- 15% out of state travel may be required
