Michaan's Auctions is a leading, full service auction house on the West Coast specializing in the appraisal and sale of antiques and fine art. Some of Michaan's specialty departments include Asian Works of Art, Furniture and Decorative Arts, Modern & Contemporary European and American Paintings/Prints and Jewelry. Established in 2002, Michaan's Auctions holds up to thirty sales each year that attract a broad base of buyers and consignors the world over. With one of the largest facilities in Northern California, Michaan's offers buyers the ability to preview and bid on many unique and desirable pieces.

Consignor services is the liaison between Michaan’s and our consignors. As a consignor services representative you will be the main point of contact for all consignors, responsible for managing their accounts and keeping them informed of their consignments. You will work closely with the department specialists to ensure that all property has been appraised and entered in the database, while keeping the consignors informed of their property both pre and post auction.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

· Managing consignor accounts, including going over the consignment contract and polices, sending out inventory listings, sales results, canceled sale notifications, etc.

Effectively communicate and correspond with clients, co-workers, and management in person, on the telephone and via email

· Create and maintain deadlines for the department specialists to appraise all property

· Enter all cataloging changes made by department specialists into the database

· Maintain records of all inventory/appraisal listings

· Schedule appointments to return unsold property

· Create the catalog for the monthly Annex auctions

· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

· Clerk the auctions as needed

Qualifications & Skills:

REQUIRED:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Customer service/project management experience

  • Self-motivator who can work independently and as part of a team to solve problems
  • Excellent prioritization skills, ability to multi-task and work well under pressure and adjust work according to evolving priorities
  • Professional and effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, flexibility and dedication
  • Outstanding organizational, communication and time-management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle high-value property responsibly and respectfully
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to lift and move heavy property (at least 20 lbs)
  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, reaching and grasping required of objects over 20 pounds
  • Standing and walking for 7 hours a day as needed throughout the month
  • Walking on uneven surfaces, crouching, kneeling or crawling, grasping, squeezing, and fine manipulation
  • Availability to work some nights, weekends, and holidays

PREFERRED:

· Degree with a focus in Art History, or strong interest in Art History or Business Administration

· Experience with Macs, Filemaker, and Basecamp

· Proficient in Excel/Word

· Knowledge of various forms of antiques, fine art, collectibles, etc.

· Previous warehouse experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 per hour
