DESCRIPTION
The Marketing Technical Writer will draft and review project descriptions and other marketing collateral. The Marketing Technical Writer will be a part of a team that maintains Michael Baker’s marketing database, which provides Michael Baker with data that supports proposals.
- Edits, standardizes, or makes changes to material prepared by others; uses available resources to prepare quality documents; continuously strives to enhance quality.
- Prepares detailed project descriptions or other narrative based on internal client interviews and review of project scope documents.
- Confers with internal clients to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication; seeks opportunities to build rapport with internal clients and to demonstrate the value added by utilizing technical writer’s skills.
- Interviews production and engineering personnel and reads journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
- Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
- Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
- Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
- Prepares or arranges for preparation of index.
- Arranges for formatting, reproduction, and distribution of material.
- Maintains familiarity with various widely used style/format guides and advises clients on the appropriate situations/ circumstances for using a particular guide.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Four-year degree in journalism, writing, or similar field
- 0-3 years of related experience
- Strong computer skills to include MS Office Suite, marketing database experience
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of various widely used style/format guides including AP Style Guide
- Experience using database tools
- Must enjoy working in a collaborative team environment
- Knowledge of basic relational data structure, data extraction, and analysis
COMPENSATION
- This position will be filled at a salary range of $68,000-$75,000 depending on experience.
WORK SCHEDULE
- The standard work hours will be Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with occasional evening and weekend hours.
