Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pasteurizer performs all duties associated with the operation of the ESL pasteurizer and CIP system, and coordinates activities with line personnel to ensure that all finished products meet customer, MFI and USDA specifications.
This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensure that all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety & quality are followed and complied with uniformly to reduce product and process variability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Attendance is essential to perform duties
- Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and trainings
- Always ensure regulatory compliance
- Control and monitor equipment that pasteurize ESL liquid egg product
- Record control set points for various products; adjust homogenizer and PD pump settings as needed
- Understand relationships between temperature, time and flow and how it impacts processing
- Clear understanding of glycol cooling systems and operations of same as it relates to processing
- Thorough knowledge of equipment and troubleshooting to correct processing deficiencies & ability to recognize and react in short time
- Create and/or maintain the required reports, logs, records and charts
- Hook up tankers for unloading product and directing it to the correct silo
- Proactively coordinate with Machine Operator III regarding the status of the CIP system to ensure the correct hook up and start time of the production line
- Clean tankers, pasteurizer, silos and pumps, and hooks up all CIP lines
- General knowledge of chemicals
- Ability to read SOPs
- Actively engage in continuous improvement efforts
- Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies/procedures and incorporate safety and health in all job duties/tasks
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs and HACCP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent years of experience preferred
- 2 years of experience operating machinery, and handling GMPs and product specifications
- Mechanical aptitude
- Basic Computer skills necessary to operate equipment controls
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
- Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Workers are required to wear proper PPE such as hair nets, ear plugs, and certain areas require earmuffs
- Ability to bend, stoop and reach above shoulder level
- Frequent walking and standing
- Ability to work indoors in wet and humid environments and stand on hard surfaces
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs
