Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Mars Hill, Maine. Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations located in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 incredible team members who work together to provide our customers with the best possible potato product. Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
This position is to provide assistance to the Quality Assurance Supervisor by providing technical guidance to QA technicians, QA Technician II and plant operations staff. This position must understand all job duties required of a QA technician, be able to communicate well to train new QA technicians, be able to problem solve, provide technical support to meet product specifications and provide direction to QA technicians and plant operations. This position has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Able to perform all duties of the QA Technicians and QA Lab Technician II (QA LT II).
Guide QA Techs/QA LT II in problem solving and answering questions.
Knowledge of Environmental monitoring swabs, sampling lists and site investigations.
Training of QA LT II on floor duties and policy.
Review and interpret lab results.
Manage the product hold program, hold tags and the process of putting product on hold in the SAP system.
- Reviews and approves Redzone compliance checks and follows up on Corrective Action issues.
- Perform validation / verification tasks.
Organoleptic product testing as well as requirements for meeting product specifications.
Approve/Deny Specification variance evaluations.
Perform calibration steps for equipment.
Participate in sensory panels.
Assist Internal Auditor with record reviews and plant compliance audits
Proficient in the use of and maintaining plant programs such as Intelex, SAP, Redzone, environmental swabbing and Hygiena (ATP) programs.
Investigating and report on Customer Complaints.
All food safety and human safety concerns need to be reported to appropriate personnel such as Safety Manager, HR Manager, FSQ Manager, etc.
- Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.

Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Excellent computer literacy (MS Office, Word, Excel)- Excellent oral and written skills
- Excellent reasoning and mathematical Skills
- Strong leadership skills
Education/Experience:
5 years’ experience in a similar job function
- 2 years food manufacturing experience necessary
- Experience in reviewing results and correlating to acceptable/unacceptable results
