This person will be responsible for preparing detailed estimates, determining material and equipment costs, calculating complete takeoff for scope of work, and more.

We are partnered with a top General Contractor who has a phenomenal reputation in the Chicago market, as well as nationally. They are on the search for someone who still wants to grow with a firm. You will use your expertise to secure work with current and new clients. The company has been in business over 40 years with a very strong pipeline of federal work. They are looking to expand their construction team as part of their growth plan by hiring an estimator to take on some key responsibilities.
Description
- Works with Operations Manager & Engineering to form costs & labor costs on special projects.
- Generates estimates & proposals for selected projects.
- Obtains bidders lists for projects that have been scoped & estimated.
- Actively pursues bid projects with timely follow up & awareness of project status.
- Assists walk-in customers with project & product inquiries.
- Solicit and maintain strong relationships with current and potential clients
- Prepare and submit proposals, within time-frame and following up until closed
- Facilitate an effective hand-off to the project manager
- Monitor budgets throughout the construction process
- Evaluate and prepare pricing for change orders.
- Update & maintain accurate pipeline reports, track leads, bookings, forecasting, reporting
- Build out a small department of other estimating professionals
- Flexible enough to handle some project management duties
- Ability to lead from the front
- Utilize technology to actualize on effective project and cost delivery
Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or Project Management preferred
- 5 years of experience with a general contractor
- Will be considered if you have experience in any market within the GC world
- Hands-on experience Estimating projects based off blue prints
- Interest in Estimating as a career - ambitious, motivated professionals
- Previous experience estimating large size projects
- Proficiency with estimating software and spreadsheet design
- Ability to perform both hard bid and conceptual bids
- Excellent references
- Willingness to lead a team and mentor junior employees
- Excellent communication skills
