My client is a leading high end full service construction firm and general contractor who builds all asset types. The firm has offices throughout the United States and have an exceptional pipeline of projects.
Job Description
The Project Controller is responsible for executing a complex portfolio of projects providing financial analysis in support of cost accounting standards, pricing rates, labor reporting, job costing & invoicing. The Project Controller will ensure compliance with government reporting and procedural standards during project execution. Reporting to the VP Finance and CFO the Project Controller has direct responsibility for all AP, AR, and compliance management processes. Other duties include:
- Manage the preparation and submission of incurred cost proposals in compliance with DCAA requirements.
- Coordinate and support DCAA audits and reviews, including responding to inquiries and providing necessary documentation.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and government regulations.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making processes and strategic planning initiatives.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, department heads, Project Executives to monitor project budgets, analyze variances, and ensure profitability.
- Supervise and mentor finance/accounting staff, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices related to government contracting and financial management.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal Project Controller have have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 5-10 years of construction accounting experience.
- Experience managing large contracts ($10-$100M and above).
- Minimum of 2 years hands-on government cost accounting experience.
- Proven knowledge of CAS and FAR principles and regulations and E.G., Part 31 contract cost principals helpful
- Exposure to DCAA audit rules extremely helpful.
- Experience with CMIC or similar ERP system preferred.
- Ability to lead a team of Project Accountants across multiple sites/projects.
