Professional Pet Groomer
Michael’s Barkery is offering an exceptional opportunity for an experienced groomer. We are an established and growing, voted best of the best grooming salon offering a full time opportunity for a highly skilled, professional, and dedicated groomer to join our team. We offer excellent pay and benefits including healthcare, dental, life insurance, and paid time off. Applicants can expect to earn on a pre-tax basis approximately $1,750 or more in tips and commission each week (equivalent to $43.75/hr or more) as well as receive guaranteed pay while building their client base. A $2,000 retention bonus is paid $1,000 after 6 months and $1,000 after 12 months of employment in good standing. The ideal candidate will have 1 or more years of professional grooming experience and/or have attended a professional grooming school.

Applicants must be Professional, Friendly, Customer Centric, Maintain a Positive Attitude, have a good work ethic and most importantly be Passionate about Animal Health and Care. The right applicant will be motivated and enthusiastic about building and working within our grooming team. Michael’s Barkery is located on Daniel Island, SC in a newly fitted out 2,500 sqft retail space within a large pet friendly community. The new, modern, upscale spa is properly equipped with the best grooming equipment and tools.

Groomer Responsibilities:

• Groom in an effective and efficient manor while supporting the grooming team
• Grooming experience with all dog breeds
• Familiar with standard cuts for all breeds
• Ability to follow customer directions and meet customer expectations and requirements
• Dog Bathing experience
• Stamina to groom several dogs per day
• Ability to calm and sooth dogs as necessary
• Ensure the grooming environment is safe for employees, customers, and animals
• Recommend retail products that would aid in home grooming care and general well being of pets
• Ensure customers are completely satisfied with their experience
• Ensure grooming environment is sanitary and clean

Groomer Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of grooming experience with all breeds
• Hand scissoring skill and experience a plus
• Ideal candidate is Certified as a Groomer or maintains similar certifications
• Knowledgeable about basic animal health and care
• Customer Service oriented
• Great work ethic, organized, reliable and a team player
• High School Diploma or GED
• Completed formal grooming training program(s)

The Story and Inspiration Behind Michael’s Barkery

Michael was known as “The Mayor” at his New Hope Pennsylvania High School because of his engaging personality. Everyone he met knew he had a beloved dog named Sunshine. When it came time to do a senior project, with the goal of exploring career aspirations, the easy answer was for Michael to bake and sell dog treats. The treats were an instant success! This small, inspired event led to the vision and creation of Michael’s Barkery.

Throughout Michael’s life we have tried to choose paths for him that would not limit him because of his intellectual disability but rather would focus on his strengths and abilities. If you think about it that is what all of us do in our lives. We all have things we are good at and things we are not. We all have likes and dislikes, as well as, our own gifts and talents. At Michael’s Barkery we recognize that everyone has God given talents and our mission is to offer employment to people with intellectual disabilities and utilizing their talents and abilities where we are able.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
