Job Summary
The Michigan Neuroscience Institute at the University of Michigan is recruiting candidates for a Research Investigator position-- a faculty-level position in the research non-tenure track (https://faculty.medicine.umich.edu/office-faculty-affairs/research-track) in the laboratory of Dr. Geoffrey G. Murphy
Who We Are
The Michigan Neuroscience Institute was established in 1955 to bring together investigators from across the University of Michigan campus to probe the mysteries of the brain on a cellular, molecular and behavioral level. The 140 faculty members of the institute as well as their affiliate members seek to understand the function and dysfunction of the human brain.
Responsibilities*
The research and scholarship roles are to conduct studies to determine to what extent morphometric alterations in the cerebrovasculature contribute to cognitive impairments in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease.
The successful candidate will also draft and revise research manuscripts, supervise research staff and manage specific research projects in support of overall laboratory goals. They will be instrumentally involved in the training of research lab students and staff in both technical and conceptual aspects. They will also play a central role in managing collaborative projects and grant proposals.
Required Qualifications*
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. Expertise in the area of confocal imaging is highly preferred.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
