Health & Safety Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

As an HSE Intern, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees. You will provide support in maintaining compliance with safety regulations, coordinating training programs, managing documentation, and document creations as needed for safety. This position demands a detail-oriented individual who is organized, proactive and dedicated to safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Health, Safety and Environmental 

• Assist in maintaining and promoting a safe work environment for all employees.
• Collaborate with the team to help ensure compliance with local, state, and federal agencies.
• Assist with regular safety audits and inspections, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Assist in developing JHAs, chemical inventory and risk assessments.
• Help maintain safety records, reports, and documentation.
• Assist the management team with developing safety procedures and posting these procedures for employee information.        

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Highly organized and efficient worker, skilled at multi-tasking and self-driven.
• Positive and personable demeanor.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to follow directions accurately. 
• Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with safety regulations.
• Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining accurate records.

Preferred Experience:

• Prior experience in a similar role in HSE, or administrative support.

• Physical Demands 

• The employee is required to: use fine motor skills such as finger and hand dexterity to type, manipulate small objects, and operate standard office equipment frequently (> 75% of time)
• The employee is required to: sit, verbally communicate, and hear frequently (> 75% of the time)
• The employee is required to walk and stand occasionally (< 33% of the time)
• The employee is required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds occasionally (< 33% of the time)
• Work Environment 
  • The employee functions will vary between office environment and production floor.
• Protective Equipment
  • No protective equipment is required in office environments
  • Protective equipment will be required in plant environments
