Michigan Millers Insurance is pleased to announce the opportunity to join our Finance team as an Accountant in our Lansing office. This position is responsible for providing support in various finance activities and projects.
As an Accountant, responsibilities may include:
- Prepare and/or input general ledger entries
- Research and resolve reconciling issues and discrepancies; take corrective measures to prevent
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements utilizing knowledge of accounting policies and procedures
- Manage assigned elements of regulatory compliance and state filing to ensure timely submissions
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Demonstrated understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statutory accounting
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience in lieu of degree acceptable
Preferred Skills:
- Intermediate to advanced skill in Microsoft Excel
- Insurance accounting experience a plus
