Title: Respite Grant Assistant

Location: Remote/Virtual - Must Live and Work in Michigan
Purpose: The Respite Grant Assistant provides support for the Home Help program by reviewing and processing respite grant applications. Home Help provides State Plan personal care services to approximately 55,000 beneficiaries each year. Services are provided by over 30,000 individual providers and over 750 agency providers. Approximately 85% of providers are family members and 50% of them are live-in caregivers. The grant is designed to provide respite care for providers to avoid caregiver burnout and maintain quality of care to vulnerable individuals.
Duties and Responsibilities:Review Home Help Respite Care Grant Applications.
Process paperwork to initiate payment.
Provide weekly reports on status of the project.
Administrative and other duties.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; associate degree preferred.
Experience: 1-2 years' experience working in customer service.
Important Skills and Characteristics:
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of less than 50 pounds and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen most of the time. Standard office environment. May require infrequent travel to the office.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibility.IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position communicates with Home Help agency providers and beneficiaries to share information about respite care and to determine eligibility. Communication is typically daily and may be via phone, email, or letter.
