Job Description
This is primarily a software and systems position with a need for a solid understanding of silicon and board hardware development process.
This person will work directly with hyperscale and OEM customers to:
- Understand evolving customer storage and systems solution needs at the system and whole-data-center level to help drive MCHP chip and solutions architectures in the right direction for future products.
- Participate in and present at industry conferences, committees and standards bodies as needed to help Microchip influence and understand broad industry directions.
- Define new solutions products and features, especially SW/FW features, that increase the competitiveness of current ASIC and board offerings.
- Be the technical lead for firmware, software, and hardware teams in developing architecture and design materials that the team can use to implement customer solutions.
- Represent the Data Center Solutions business unit’s engineering team internally with influence across business units and upwards to C-level executives.
Job Requirements
- 10 years of hyperscale data center engineering team experience: the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of architecting and implementing storage and/or other system solutions in hyperscale data centers, preferably at a Big 5 company or one with similar scale-out needs
- 15 years of experience in the storage and computer systems industry
- BSBSEE/MSEE with heavy SW background, or BSCS/MSCS with HW experience; master’s degree preferred but not required
- Storage background in server OEM or enterprise storage: the ideal candidate will also have some background working with server and enterprise OEMs in the area of storage systems
- Proven industry technical leadership: published papers, presentations at technical conferences, and participation in industry standards activities are all highly desirable
- Startup experience is also desirable, either at an actual start-up or starting up a new enterprise within a larger company.
