Job Description

Microchip has an opportunity for an Equipment Engineering Services Technician II – Dry Etch at our Fab 5 facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Responsibilities:

  • Capable of starting, stopping, and operating equipment in the Dry Etch area within design limits.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, installs, de-installs, and performs preventive maintenance on a variety of complex equipment used in the wafer fab, including, but not limited to:
    • P5000 Oxide
    • Centura Metal
    • DPS Metal
    • DPS Poly
    • LAM Rainbow
    • LAM 9400
    • LAM4520i
  • Follow written PM specifications on a variety of equipment in the Dry Etch area. Practice inventory control for parts, with a special attention to cost saving opportunities.
  • Active participant in shift pass downs
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble various sub-assemblies as part of routine maintenance activity in the Dry Etch area.
  • Apply appropriate diagnostic techniques to identify and correct common failures on equipment and will assist senior technicians or engineers to collect and resolve part failures based on process or historical equipment data.
  • Utilize available training synopsis, materials, aids, and certification requirements to assist in meeting assigned personal improvement goals.
  • Provides input to assist with development and optimization of equipment preventive maintenance schedules. Actively work towards area improvements through PAT meetings, observations, and on-going experience.
  • Will work independently and in a team environment when performing physically demanding technical tasks.
  • Use and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Set up, operate, and interpret results of helium leak detection equipment.
  • Utilize process measurement data from outside sources as measure of the quality of work performed in completing PM tasks.
  • Provides input to assist with development and optimization of equipment preventive maintenance schedules.

Participates in work area team meetings and attends training schools and sessions both on site and at vendor's facilities to obtain knowledge and experience with assigned equipment sets.

Job Requirements

  • 2 - 5 years’ work-related experience and specialized training

Other things we’re looking for:

    • Practical knowledge and application of electronics, mechanics, vacuum theory, safety, clean room protocol, and IC Fabrication.
    • Knowledge of basic computer skills necessary to interact with systems used to monitor and update equipment status, update on-line checklists, GQS specifications, send e-mail, and obtain technical information related to equipment processing capabilities.
    • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and ability to learn the operational concepts of systems and how to perform diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques to solve more complex operational and system problems.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagrams, flow charts and cause and effect diagrams.
    • Ability to set up, operate and interpret output of test equipment to include, but not limited to oscilloscopes, digital volt-ohm meters, current and voltage sources and chart recorders.
    • Ability to learn and adhere established company and departmental policies pertaining to day to day operations.
    • AS degree in basic electronic/mechanical engineering.
