Overview
Guided by the MicroTech's mission, vision and core values, the VP of Finance provides the oversight, management and administration necessary to ensure the proper fiduciary controls, processes, reporting, procedures and systems are in place and the procedures and reporting are accomplished responsibly and efficiently. The duties of the VP of Finance are governed by MicroTech's by-laws and resolutions of the Partners (or Board of Directors). Reports directly to the President/CEO.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the finance and accounting personnel assigned to the CFO’s Office.
- Provide for appropriate career building and professional development activities to ensure a climate of growth for all assigned employees.
- Consider future opportunities for CFO staff.
- Routinely monitor workplace for areas where growth as needed or possible and where existing resources can be further enhanced.
- Manage ongoing banking relationships for maximum efficiency.
- Manage all the payment and collection transactions.
- Develop cash flow forecasting and maintain a long-term cash forecast.
- Manage MicroTech’s insurance and risk management program.
- Oversee the annual insurance renewal process and ensure appropriate coverage is always maintained.
- Review financing and credit terms of preferred vendors.
- Manage the payroll function ensuring efficient systems, processes, and controls.
- Manage the financial system, ensuring maximum productivity and that it meets business needs today and in the future.
- Manage and verify the commissions and bonuses computations and payments.
- Oversee the continuous improvement of accounting and financial processes and the development of the CFO team with the goal of achieving best practices and optimal output.
- Develop and oversee accounting policies and procedures to meet both current and future business models.
- Oversee the external audit, review, and analyze results and recommend approval of the audited financial statements.
- Prepare the financial section of the annual report.
- Oversee the cash management function, including banking relationships.
- Ensure MicroTech follows all internal policies and relevant regulations and ensure MicroTech filings to government and non-government agencies are completed in a timely manner.
- Develop and oversee the internal review function to ensure that finance and operations controls and policies are complied with throughout MicroTech.
- Ensure effective follow-up processes are in place.
- Responsible for financial management reporting for MicroTech.
- Present monthly and year-to-date financials with accompanying analysis of results.
- Develop regular reporting and analysis, including key metrics reports, and conduct ad hoc financial analysis, as required.
- Ensure financial management reporting and processes are in place to support the ongoing and future needs of the business.
- Develop and prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly management reporting packages.
- Lead the annual business plan development and budgeting process.
- Provide ongoing financial modeling and analysis expertise to the CEO, business partners and business units.
- Lead the financial modeling and analysis to support the development of long-term strategic initiatives and business plans.
- Assist the CEO and COO in quarterly outlook process.
- Responsible for timely processing of time and attendance information, payroll transactions and payroll processing to ensure all MicroTech employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the payroll transactions in the General Ledger.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of tax withholdings and payment in an accurate and timely manner. Responsible for the proper safeguarding of employee’s payroll information.
- Lead all the payroll cycle debrief meetings.
- Compliance and Audits
- Supervise all the compliance and audit functions.
- Ensure the team delivers the highest standard of departmental and MicroTech-wide teamwork and customer service.
- Ensure optimal deployment of resources to achieve business goals.
- Develop finance and accounting team goals that are fully aligned with MicroTech goals and vision.
- Lead and coach the team to recruit and retain high caliber staff.
- Assist in the development of competitive pricing strategies for proposal efforts in response to federal government RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs to maximize MicroTech’s success.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support, and set professional development plans to assist employees to reach their full potential through the performance management process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Ten years fiscal experience, including management experience at the VP-level or above.
- Fiscal experience at a managerial level that includes knowledge of annual budgets and budget planning at commercial organizations.
- Supervisory experience.
- Spreadsheet and database software experience.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to multi-task and handle a fast-paced work environment.
