Position Overview
The Financial Reporting Officer will support the Finance team and specifically the Director of Financial Reporting by collecting, organizing, summarizing, and analyzing financial data, and performing necessary research or financial reporting requirements, to produce schedules and reports to be used for both internal and external financial reporting including financial statements and related footnotes, regulatory financial reports, Board financial reports, earnings and dividend press releases, and management and investor presentations. This individual will assist management with maintaining adequate internal controls over financial reporting by (i) keeping appropriate records to support the financial information prepared and (ii) ensuring that financial materials are reviewed by management as appropriate before distribution internally or externally. As an active member of the Finance team, this individual will report directly to and regularly interact with the Director of Financial Reporting, communicate with appropriate management, and staff personnel, and prepare periodic interim financial reports and analyses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the preparation of certain schedules and disclosures within regulatory reports for various reporting agencies, including but not limited to the Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Form 8-K’s, Federal Reserve reports (FR2900 and FR2644 on weekly basis), the FDIC Call Report, FRY9-C and FRY9-LP. All schedules and disclosures will be reviewed by a member of management prior to filing.
- Prepares certain schedules and disclosures for the quarterly earnings press release for the Corporation for subsequent review by the Director of Financial Reporting, CFO and CEO.
- Prepares certain schedules to be included in the Financial Package for presentation to the Board of Directors, as well as reports for other Committee meetings (i.e. Pricing and ALCO) as requested.
- Provides periodic reports to the Director of Financial Reporting, Chief Financial Officer, and other groups, as required.
Education and Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. degree in Accounting or a related field of study; specialized financial services education and training is preferred. CPA licensure is preferred, but not required.
- A minimum of three (3) years' related experience normally required. SEC filing experience is preferred, but not required.
- This individual will have familiarity with financial institution’s GAAP and the content requirements of public company and financial regulatory reports, including the SEC 10-K and 10-Q and the FFIEC Call Report, and will actively participate in one-on-one sessions with the Director of Financial Reporting to gain an understanding of and prepare various schedules and disclosures within regulatory reports.
- This individual will have knowledge of XBRL tagging and EDGAR conversion of SEC documents to serve as a co-processor with the Director of Financial Reporting for these tasks.
- This individual will have a reasonable working knowledge of deferred tax accounting and the preparation and update of the Company’s deferred tax model and effective tax rate calculations in support of both the financial reporting and income tax management processes.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, work well under pressure, and able to meet deadlines required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
