What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimating Manager position at Middleville Tool & Die?
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the coordination of all quoting, costing, timing, and portal activities for company sales activities. Oversees the preparation of engineering estimates, production quotes, contract tooling quotes, quoting engineering changes, sales forecast, and other estimating activities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
· Ensures and oversees a robust quoting process that supports the strategy of the Company.
· Develops and oversees the quote model in Plex.
· Leads the development and maintenance of the sales forecast.
· Works with sales, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, new model launch, and other related departments to process parts in the most efficient and cost effective method relative to the Companies capabilities.
· Audit actual performance of parts “won” and applies knowledge as lessons learned to future quotes.
· Review and interpret customer drawings and electronic designs
· Work with Purchasing to obtain quotes from approved suppliers
· Using the Company’s cost model and other estimating tools, accurately compile part and/or tooling cost in order for the Company to receive the desired margins, while delivering to the customer the best cost relative to the print requirements
· Propose VA/VE ideas that would improve quality, cost, and manufacturability
· Support the APQP process, as needed.
· Maintain an organized work area.
· Works in the most efficient manner to meet and exceed all established corporate goals.
· Assists in analyzing and resolving work problems.
· Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
