Summary/Primary Purpose: Operate the Early Head Start vans in a safe and professional manner while transporting families. Assist with office duties while not driving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transport program participants as directed by the Early Head Start Office Coordinator.
- Supervise the use of safety belts for all passengers and the use of age-appropriate seats for children.
- Monitor and implement daily maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and cleanliness of all Early Head Start vehicles.
- Driving is an essential function of this position.
- Assist with office duties when not driving.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Driver must have at least two years licensed driving experience, preferably driving a passenger van or bus.

- Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
- Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail and filing.
- Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
