Reports to the Director of Facilities Services & Clinical Engineering and assumes leadership responsibility for the Clinical Engineering Department. Responsible for the development and implementation of a wide variety of programs, policies and procedures. Responsible for the quality, productivity, human resource, financial, customer service, safety and organizational function of the department. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the performance of the department and its staff. Responsible for meeting the established guidelines of the department, for managing supplies, equipment and staff. Responsible for promoting teamwork with department staff, with physicians, and with personnel from user departments. Responsible for solving problems, dealing with a variety of issues and interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

• Assesses, projects, and plans for the needs of the department and of user departments.• Maintains current knowledge of clinical equipment operation, electronics, test equipment operation, and trouble-shooting skills.• Ensures medical equipment database is updated and repairs are efficiently maintained.• Ensures that appropriate training is provided to clinical staff and customers related to equipment operation and care.• Provides accurate, timely and complete documentation as requested by administration.• Communicates effectively with all health team members and patients and clients.• Develops continuous performance and quality improvement recommendations for implementation by Department staff.• Demonstrates ability to identify and solve problems and uses initiative and good judgment to reach quality decisions.• Coordinates activities of the departments to maintain harmonious working relationships.• Monitors the Hospital and outside facilities for readiness for a survey or inspection by any oversight organizations.• Maintains a good working relationship with outside agencies.• Actively follows up on all legitimate complaints from staff, patents, physicians, and visitors concerning safety and security matters.• Promotes safety education through training, monitoring, and reporting as necessary.• Monitors regulatory compliance with OSHA, DNV, and all local, state, or federal regulations.• Prepares an annual budget for the Department.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.• Minimum of four years of experience. Supervisory or management experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The individual must be able to:• Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.
