Job Description
Responsible for gathering all pertinent patient information and accurately prepares the patient; data collection and input. Must promote and demonstrate strong customer service skills with physicians and their staff. All job duties are to be completed in a manner that is consistent with the highest quality of guest relations, which results in a positive experience for the patient and or his/her family members.
The Medical Assistant is expected to "float" to any of our hospital's 12-14 clinics in Premier and to Permian cardiology. The clinics range from primary care to specialties such as neurology, Ear Nose and Throat, dermatology etc. Ideally, they will be shown a clinic and float there to get familiar with that clinics flow in case they are sent in the future. It is best this person be very familiar with the Medical Assistant skillset such as vitals, manual blood pressures (orthosstatic) injections, EKG, phlebotomy would greatly help not all clinics do blood work or have labs but some do, familiar with breathing treatments, ear lavage etc.
SHIFT AND SCHEDULE
Full Time 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS • Coordinates safe and effective care considering the age and specific needs of the patient. • Prioritizes demands with resources to meet individualized patient needs, and makes appropriate decisions exercising independent judgment. • Utilizes critical thinking skills to achieve the highest quality standards by following established procedures in compliance with best practice. Incorporates continuous performance improvement recommendations into daily work. • Provides secretarial support for unit (answering phone calls, ordering and maintaining stock of supplies, etc.) • Preparation of patients for examination and testing.• Performs blood pressures, IV starts, and EKG’s to assist with patient care. • Triage and assessment of patients • Communicates professionally and effectively (hear, listen, speak) with patients, family, visitors, physicians, physician office staff, hospital employees, and other health team members. • Recognizes and responds effectively to verbal, nonverbal, and written communications and utilizes and applies medical terminology appropriately. • Demonstrates appropriate communication and interpersonal skills to enhance teamwork and collaborates with healthcare team to enhance daily workflow.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE• Registered or Certified Medical Assistant and maintain current certification as a Medical Assistant • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Bilingual would be a bonus but not required.
