Position Function/Purpose
This position functions to enroll and maintain membership for all District employees to the state retirement system. This position prepares, reconcile, and submits all payroll and retirement information for all District employees to the state retirement system. The position will also act as the District liaison with the state retirement system agency and coordinate the state retirement processing functions of the District.
Major Responsibilities
- Prepare all monthly reports related to Texas Teacher Retirement System (TRS) for all employees. This includes, but not limited to the monthly demographic (ED), Regular Payroll (RP), and the Employment after Retirement (ER) reports.
- Works with HR regarding all demographic information changes for filing for the TRS ED reports. Includes, but not limited to, reporting of all new members, name changes, employee terminations, addresses, etc.
- Reviews and prepares the monthly TRS RP report. Includes, but not limited to verification of the calculation of the TRS member contributions, district contributions, new member contributions, Federal Fund/Private Grant contributions, statutory minimum, etc.
- Review and prepares the monthly TRS ER report. Includes, but not limited to, verification of retiree applicability, retiree hours, retiree and district contributions.
- Prepares and submits the TEXNET TRS monthly payments that correspond to the monthly TRS reports in a timely manner
- Monthly, reconciles TRS amounts to Skyward, the TEXNET payment and prepares the journal entry posting of TRS expenses.
- Submit TRS adjustment reports, as needed, as it relates to employee days worked and compensation reported.
- Act as the district Housing liaison to external parties, as related to the employee housing rent charges.
- Monthly, review the monthly housing rent deductions and reconcile to external party reports of required rent, etc.
- Verify the monthly housing invoices and approve for payment prior to when invoices are due.
- Monitor and reconcile the monthly employee or district liability per housing lease agreements.
- Prepare and submit biweekly and monthly payroll deduction payment requests for outside vendors.
- Balance and update year-to-date payroll records.
- Process W-2 audit monthly, balance the payroll/W-2 audit to the 941 quarterly, and process corrections as necessary.
- Prepare correspondence and forms. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
- Review and respond to Attorney General Child Support notices in the required time frame.
- Process and review FMLA calculations for all affected employees.
- Process and verify salary calculations on employee changes, new hires, and terminations
- Perform special project assignments, and other duties as assigned.
