Job Title: General Laborer
Position Type: Full Time Hours: 40
Job Summary: About the general laborer will safely and efficiently remove and prepare rail to various sizes for pick-up.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes.
- Attends daily rail briefing and follows all FRA guide lines, subject to change at any time.
- PPE must be always worn on railroad property, according to FRA, Federal Railroad Association.
- Safely removing rail from inactive railroad.
- Marking and torching rail to various sizes /preparing rail for pick-up.
- Immediately report malfunctioning equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with coworkers and supervisors.
- Ability to effectively handle high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with a torch, hand and power tools and standard equipment.
- Ability to travel regularly; out for 3 weeks home for 1 week and repeat.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, clean Motor Vehicle Report: insurable.
- Ability to learn/ willing to train.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Able to bend, lift, push, and pull, as necessary.
- Able to lift to 75 pounds.
