- We have an opening for 1-2 full-time or part-time positions. Prior experience is preferred, but not required. The employee will be cross trained in all aspects of front office work including: filing insurance, pre-authorization, scheduling appointments, etc. They will also be fully trained in all aspects of the optical: frame adjustments, frame selection, lensometry, etc. They will also be cross trained for pre-testing, patient work-up, and diagnostic testing. The pay rate will be determined by the level of experience and the interview.
- Jared Powelson, O.D. and Michael Gerstner, O.D. have a full-scope family optometry practice in midtown. Both doctors are also on faculty at Southern College of Optometry.

Position Responsibilities:
- Clerical - Manage patient charts, maintain filing system, record referral information, sort and deliver mail, update calenda
- Office/Clinic Procedures - Prepare daily schedule, maintain daily & weekly reports, keep current list of office supplies, office/clinic appearance and cleaning
- Patient Management - Greet patients, answer telephone, maintain practice management systems, schedule and confirm appointments, efficient clinic flow of patients,
- Optometric Assisting - Exam room preparation, pre-testing, auto refraction, verify spectacle Rx, contact lens insertion and removal (INR), frame selection and measuring
- Patient education - Assist the Dr. as needed, dispense and adjust eyewear, repair
- Rx management and inventor - Order and track Rx
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- An Associate's degree in medical assisting may be a benefit.
- An Optometric Assistant Certification may be a benefit.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A strong attention to detail.
- The ability to multi-task.
- The ability to work with delicate tools and materials.
