Position
The Midwest Bioprocessing Center is currently looking for an entry level Ph.D. Scientist to work on an
NIH-funded research project to develop antiviral glycans.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a background in one or more of the following areas, preferably coupled with experience in glycochemistry or glycobiology:
- Synthetic chemistry
- Enzyme biocatalysis
- Synthetic biology
- Chemical engineering and/or fermentation
A strong background in running and maintaining analytical equipment as well as running preparative chromatography systems would also be a plus . New Ph.D. graduates and post-doctoral researchers are welcome to apply. We are a young and growing company and there is ample opportunity for self-advancement and promotion.
NOTE: The candidate must be currently authorized to work in the US and must have a valid Visa if non-US.
Responsibilities:
- Synthesis and purification of rare/modified carbohydrates and glycochemicals using synthetic chemistry, chemoenzymatic, or synthetic biology methods
- Developing and writing NIH Small Business Innovative Research grant proposals.
- Synthesizing compounds for customers and for internal use
- Natural product biosynthesis and glycosylation
