We are looking for a SCRIBE to join our growing team!
The Scribe assists the doctor by transcribing appropriate data into the patient medical record during the patient exam in order to optimize the doctor’s time with patients. This position will also assist the technician by performing various administrative and clinical functions, including obtaining patient histories, performing preliminary and ancillary testing, scheduling patients, and preparing the exam room.
Previous experience is great but certainly not required. We have an excellent training program; therefore, with an energetic personality and willingness to learn we can provide you with the necessary skills to be a great Scribe.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- During the exam, accurately enter information into EHR as dictated by the doctor.
- Assist optometrist and ophthalmologist with patient procedures.
- Escort the patient to Optical and introduce to the Optician, reiterating the doctor’s recommendations.
- Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.
- Prepare exam room by cleaning instruments and maintaining inventory of medications and supplies.
- Provide a safe, clean, organized and inviting environment for both patients and staff.
- Perform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the office manager or team lead, and doctor(s).
SUPPLEMENTARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Depending upon the patient volume and/or patient flow, you may be required to perform the following tasks.
- Prepare patients for eye examinations and vision therapy; confidentially instruct patients about medications, tests, and procedures.
- Perform various vision and diagnostic tests.
- Collect patient medical history and enter data into EHR.
- Assist with answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, and effectively maintaining appointment books for doctors, as well as assist in completing recalls.
- Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Stooping, Grasping, Lifting, Talking, Hearing.
- Physical requirements: Light work. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs on a regular basis from floor to waist, 5 lbs from waist to shoulder, and 5 lbs from shoulder to overhead.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
