Midwest Refrigerated Services, a growing family-owned logistics operation, is seeking an Operations Manager to facilitate and support our Cedar Rapids, IA facility. We serve customers in the food industry with distribution services and additional value-adding services. Our company has grown rapidly and offers many opportunities for advancement.
Overview:
This position will be responsible for leading the teams responsible for our core warehouse operations
Job Functions:
- Accomplishes warehouse operations and human resource objectives by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
- Achieves warehouse operations operational objectives by contributing warehouse operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends.
- Meets warehouse operations financial objectives by forecasting labor requirements; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.
- Develops warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment.
- Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process work flow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout; implementing changes.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of warehouse operations experience in a supervisory position. Preference for an associate or bachelor’s degree.
- Proficiency with all MS Office applications and ability to learn applicable application software
- Possess strong communication (oral and written), statistical and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task and maintain workflow while professionally responding to issues as they arise in a fast paced environment
- Ability to lead as a hands on manager that engages at the team level and is flexible in schedule in order to adjust and respond to operational needs
- Ability to travel to other MRS locations, customer locations, and training/networking opportunities (<5%)
Compensation: Compensation commensurate with experience.
