Essential Duties and Purpose:
The Dean of Graduate Studies shall serve as an academic administrative officer and faculty member at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and report directly to the Provost and, thereby, to the President and to the Board of Trustees.
The Dean of Graduate Studies shall serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and the Provost’s Council.
The Dean of Graduate Studies shall be responsible for the innovation and promotion of all graduate programs.
The Dean of Graduate Studies shall work with the Office of Admissions and Institutional Relations for the enrollment management strategy and goal achievement of all graduate programs.
The Dean of Graduate Studies shall be responsible for leadership in curriculum and academic program development and shall assist the Provost by making recommendations for faculty election, renewal, appointment, promotion, reassignment, or dismissal.
The Dean of Graduate Studies shall oversee directors and coordinators of graduate programs, support staff, or any other personnel as assigned by the Provost.
Qualifications:
Record of effective administrative and visionary leadership experience in higher education and/or the equivalent in the local church or other organizations
Record of excellence in teaching at the graduate level and in scholarly activity
Demonstrated skills of an effective communicator
Demonstrated skills of sound fiscal management and effective organizational and managerial abilities
Demonstrated commitment to the local church and to the work of the Southern Baptist Convention
Demonstrated commitment to and enthusiastic support of the confessional and guiding documents of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary & Spurgeon College
Completed terminal research degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent)
