Position Purpose
The Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN) is pleased to announce the opportunity for a Project Manager to join our growing organization. MiHIN Project Managers are responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and finalizing projects according to specifications and deadlines.
Duties and responsibilities
At the start of each new activity, the Project Manager champions the definition of the project’s objectives, creates schedules, identifies key project milestones, and begins quality control. Then to deliver the project according to plan, the Project Manager helps attain resources; manages the overall project budget; coordinates and tracks internal MiHIN team members and third-party contractors and/or consultants; and supervises any student interns hired to support the project. This work also includes the identification, assessment, and communication of project risks, as well as regular communication with the executive management team for status updates.
- Draft, update, and maintain project scope, resource budget, and project schedule documents
- Routinely communicate project status, resource utilization, and high-level project schedule to executive management and related project team members
- Facilitate documentation of requirements from internal and external stakeholders to ensure commitment and understanding of scope by all participants
- Day-to-day management of assigned projects. This includes initiating, coordinating, scheduling, preparing agendas, tracking follow-ups actions, and documenting meeting activities
- Ensure that necessary parties (staff, vendors, and stakeholders) are participating to accomplish the meeting agendas, goals, and the project’s milestones or deliverables
- Work with participating organizations to serve as the primary day-to-day contact to facilitate communication and coordinate project activities
- Coordinate all scheduling events with the appropriate administrative staff
- Assist in the development of MiHIN’s use case documentation (as needed) with appropriate MiHIN directors, team members, or operations advisory committee/working groups
- Effectively communicate and respond via email, telephone, and formal writing
- Help manage and track the work of MiHIN-approved vendors, vendor contracts, vendor statements of works, and vendor deliverables
- Document project status in online tools such as appropriate
- Assist in development and documentation related to policies and procedures
- Attend/participate in weekly project management calls, stakeholder roll calls, staff roll calls, and related project meetings as directed
- Ensure that Information MiHIN produces, maintains, stores, or transmits remains secure through adherence to MiHIN's Security Policies and Procedures
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Three to five years of relevant work experience
- Thorough knowledge of project management methods, techniques, and tools
- Ability to write and communicate effectively
- Excellent team facilitation and listening skills
- Familiarity with common online collaboration and presentation tools
- Prior experience with large scale information technology projects
Preferred qualifications include:
- Master’s degree in relevant field
- CAPM, PMP, PMP-ACP, Lean or other Agile certifications
- Previous exposure to high tech, public sector, and/or healthcare industries
- Prior experience with large scale information technology projects
