Position Summary
This position participates in all aspects of the Friendship Community in Recovery/RCO program. This position provides peer support and substance use recovery services to program participants. The Peer Recovery Coach will report directly to the Friendship Community in Recovery Program Coordinator.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide non-judgmental peer recovery coach services and treat all participants with dignity and respect
· Complete intake assessment with new program participants
· Provide peer recovery services in individual settings (ie. recovery planning, relapse prevention planning, peer coaching, etc.)
· Provide peer recovery services in group settings (ie. leading 12-step meetings, alternative recovery pathway meetings, support groups, etc.)
· Provide a safe, effective, accessible, clean, and comfortable environment for program participants
· Encourage recovery; assist in the founding/maintenance of recovery capital for program participants
· Link and refer participants to other community, social service, and/or mental health agencies as appropriate
· Assist participants in accessing substance use treatment programs when requested by participants
· Attend continuing education events related to peer recovery skills
· Attend staff meetings and other agency required trainings
· Attend community events as a representative of Friendship Community in Recovery as needed
· Utilize supervision and seek guidance for performing peer recovery functions as needed
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or its recognized equivalent
· WV PRSS Certification preferred; or candidate must possess the qualifications and commitment to obtain PRSS Certification
· Lived experience with substance use and recovery
· Commitment to and passion for our agency’s mission
· If offered the position, employment will be contingent upon passing the criminal background and pre-employment drug screenings.
Skills
· Basic computer skills, specifically Microsoft 365 Suite
· Excellent written and oral communication skills and organizational skills
· Ability to provide peer support while maintaining appropriate boundaries
· Capacity to be an active listener, and to treat others with compassion and respect
· Ability to multi-task with the capability to learn quickly and integrate efficiently
