Purpose of Position:

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Finance & IT, the Accountant is responsible for the assistance with management of the general ledger, account analysis, waiver program provider billings and grant monitoring and reporting. The efforts of this individual include assisting program managers with the development, preparation and submittal of budgets, monitoring grant accounts, and reporting on grant, operational and budget related compliance issues.

Essential Functions:
  • Review general ledger accounts for accuracy of postings to revenue and expenditure accounts against budgets as well as postings to balance sheet items.
  • Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations.
  • Grant monitoring, tracking, and reporting as required by grant contracts. Including preparation of all Financial Status Reports, their submission to the respective agency and the drawdown request for funds, as applicable.
  • Perform all required tasks associated with Waiver vendor billing. Adjudicate claims in accordance with participant approved service authorization and MDHHS procedural coding. Identify any fluctuating costs or irregular patterns in service authorizations and report to the Director of Clinical Services.
    • Process all incoming bills in vendor billing, including any special payments, e.g. Direct Care Worker, Hazard Pay or other like payments.
    • Prepare vendor payments and submit to accounts payable for processing.
    • Process all service authorization requests and adjust billings accordingly.
    • Run data mining reports for the Quarterly OIG Reports, to be provided to the Compliance Manager.
    • Run variance reports monthly to identify gaps in service.
    • Run periodic service reports to ensure all payments and units have been paid to our vendors and reconcile to general ledger for accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, ensuring that all expenditures are properly supported and approved.
  • Ensure compliance with established administrative and financial policies, procedures, and sound business practices.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of budgets and expenditures to ensure targets are met.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budgets for Board approval.
  • Assist in the preparation for the annual audits as well as any grantor site visits.
  • Make deposits to the bank, as needed.
  • Cross train in other accounting functions as determined by the Associate Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; or
  • 7-10 years of related experience that can come from public accounting and/or industry
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Exempt position with starting salary of $55,204.50 - $63,082.50, which will be adjusted for experience.
