Job Title:
Banquet Captain
Reports directly to:
Director of Sales and Catering
Job Overview:
The purpose of this position is to oversee all aspects of banquet events, including ordering, setup, execution, and breakdown.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Coordinate with the Director of Sales & Catering to ensure that events are executed according to specifications.
- Manage banquet staff, including servers, bartenders, and other support staff.
- Ensure that all guests are attended to in a timely and professional manner.
- Act as liaison during event with group contact
- Maintain a clean and organized banquet space before, during, and after events.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Responsible for training of banquet staff
- Management of Inventory
- Attend scheduled BEO meetings
- Maintain weekly schedule and communication with banquet staff
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
- Proven experience in managing teams, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with team members and the public, including guests, staff, and event organizers.
- Highly organized and able to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations with ease and problem solve.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Meet minimum age requirement of jurisdiction
- Read, write, and speak English fluently
- One year of banquet management experience
- Food/Beverage Service Worker Permit, where applicable
