As an asphalt paint striper for an asphalt company, your main responsibility is to stripe/ restripe existing paint markings from asphalt surfaces, such as roads, parking lots, or driveways. Your job description may include:
1. Equipment Operation: Operating specialized equipment like paint striping machines, pressure washers, and heat guns to effectively remove paint from asphalt surfaces.
2. Surface Preparation: Assessing the condition of the asphalt surface, cleaning it thoroughly, and ensuring it is free from debris, dirt, and oil before applying paint stripper.
3. Safety Compliance: Following safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect yourself and others while working with chemicals and operating machinery.
4. Paint Stripping Techniques: Utilizing various methods, such as chemical paint strippers, abrasion, or heat, to effectively remove paint markings without damaging the underlying asphalt surface.
5. Precision and Accuracy: Ensuring precise and accurate removal of paint markings, following specific guidelines and measurements, and maintaining straight lines and smooth edges.
6. Communication and Documentation: Collaborating with team members, supervisors, or clients to understand project requirements, providing progress reports, and documenting completed work.
7. Maintenance and Repair: Maintaining and inspecting equipment regularly, reporting any malfunctions or repairs needed to ensure proper functioning and safety.
8. Quality Control: Inspecting the stripped surfaces for any remaining paint or damage and making any necessary touch-ups or repairs to meet quality standards.
9. Worksite Cleanliness: Maintaining a clean and organized worksite by properly disposing of waste materials, cleaning up debris, and ensuring the area is safe and tidy.
