About the role
As Mill's Manufacturing Process Engineer you will manage and drive the manufacturing processes through which Mill's products are developed and produced. This role will design and optimize systems and procedures used by our Contract Manufacturing (CM) partner and Tier 1 suppliers. Responsibilities will include designing/sourcing fixtures, reducing CT, and optimizing assembly line layout.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering design teams to perform “Design for Manufacturability” and “Design for Assembly” reviews on new and existing products
- Identify and lead implementation of new and enhanced automated assembly capabilities to increase production capacities and efficiencies
- Design and develop fixtures/tooling - including selection and coordination with suppliers
- Create, update and maintain manufacturing documents for pre-production and production
- Collaborate with engineering to resolve customer quality issues related to manufacturing process issues
- Qualify the manufacturing process on each new product introduction, including working with our CM partner to ensure appropriate line layout, work instructions, operator training, etc. are in place
- Drive cost reductions and product quality improvements through manufacturing yield and CT enhancement programs.
- Work with Mill Engineering & Logistics to set up Reverse Logistics Triage Testing systems/processes and work with Mill Customer Service on implementing RMA processes.
Skills/Experience Required:
- Strong electro-mechanical background
- Expert knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, supplier mgt & statistical process controls.
- 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Process Engineer or related field
- Engineering degree (BSEE, BSIE, BSME)
- Knowledge of CAD (NX) and ability to write scripts to aggregate and analyze defect, yield and productivity data
- Exceptional problem solving, communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Expert knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, supplier mgt & statistical process controls.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $122k to $162k, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. At Mill, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
