What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist position at MILLAT INDUSTRIES?
The CNC Machinist specializes in setting up and operating CNC machines and machining centers. They apply intermediate knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, maintainability of materials, and layout techniques.
Essential Job Functions
- Studies basic blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine the dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece.
- Follows the sequence of operations on the router.
- Follows set-up requirements on set-up sheets with minimal support.
- Ability to conduct basic quality control checks and full functional deburring.
- Perform tool changes when needed.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines; such as mills, lathes, and saws.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors; such as feeds and speeds, coolant flow, depth of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit programs.
- Starts and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or program as required.
- Verifies dimensions and alignment using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks, and other inspection equipment.
- Communicates with co-workers, and team leader to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
Job Classification Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of trade school, vocational education and/or work experience.
- Must have basic knowledge of GD&T.
- Must have basic knowledge of G&M codes.
- Must have own tools.
- Quality-oriented.
- Always adheres to Company safety policies.
- Requires decision-making skills.
- Exhibits characteristics of a good role model.
- Reliable with an excellent attendance record.
- Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
- Ability to exert between 10 and 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
