Job Summary
As the Principal Mission Operations Engineer, you will be working on a variety of exciting space projects. Your responsibilities will span the full mission life cycle: generating operational concepts; writing requirements; task planning; operational design; integration, testing, delivering, and operating mission systems. As the principal engineer, you are the senior technical person within the company’s mission operations team. Your depth and breadth of experience provide the technical authority during real time anomalies, operations concept design, space system integration and test, and launch.

Responsibilities:

• Chief engineer support to our mission operations team to sustain our customer’s space missions to include 24/7 critical events. You will work directly with our customers to ensure their projects succeed.
• Develop training plans for mission operators to build and maintain operational readiness. This includes operating our satellites in orbit, as well as the supporting ground systems.
• Provide engineering oversight to the space-ground architecture with special emphasis on all ground software, networks, and material required to perform the space mission, including interfaces to external entities.
• Design, document, integrate, test, and verify space-to-ground interfaces.
• Provide engineering oversight for ground integration activities, including mission control software interfacing with other subsystems/tools, simulations, physical hardware, and/or mission simulators.
• Provide guidance and subject matter expertise for satellite subsystems and their interactions both internal to the spacecraft and with external systems
• Help lead internal company planning, proposals and business strategies that include mission design, execution, analysis, and operations.  You will work with company principals to assess how we can best leverage company capabilities to provide cost effective solutions for our customers.

Minimum Qualifications          

• Active TS/SCI Clearance
• B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Computer Engineering
• Demonstrated experience with space systems operations
• Experience with GOTS/COTS-based T&C software systems
• Experience with simple scripting
• Experience writing flight operations documentation
• Comfortable communicating technical details both verbally and in writing. Experience with various MS Office and Adobe products required.

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Computer Engineering
• Experience with mission planning and / or orbit determination on space missions
• Experience with CCSDS and/or XTCE protocols
• Experience with Neptune CGA, ITOS or other COTS-based satellite C2 ground software
• Experience with iterative and agile software development
• Experience with Linux-based development
