PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Accountant will be responsible for ensuring project billings are accurate, issued timely and collected, ensuring the review, approval and posting of project costs, monitoring the progress of projects and investigating variances.
Specific responsibilities include:
Review contract documents
Enter projects into accounting system (Deltek Ajera/Unanet)
Verify fees match contract documents
Maintain any project specific requirements (i.e. Certificates of Insurance, Release of Liens, etc.)
Understand labor calculations, burden and related charges
Coordinate subconsultant agreements and payments to subconsultants for assigned project(s) ensuring payments are made in full accordance with the executed agreements
Coordinate with project managers to prepare monthly invoices and send to client
Prepare special schedules for billing as required by clients/contract
Review monthly accounts receivable aging reports and follow up with clients on payment of invoices
Coordinate with project managers to prepare and present billing projections
Set up new clients
Report on budgets, overbillings and under-billings
Participate in monthly cost reviews and document results, investigate project variances and submit reports to project managers
This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to the Regional Finance Manager.
Pay: $52,000 – $66,560
REQUIREMENTS
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in accounting, finance or equivalent preferred; two to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous experience in a professional services firm (accounting, law, architecture, engineering)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in general ledger accounting or financial reporting is required
Must be able to perform and explain financial reviews with a high level of understanding
Communicate findings competently to executive management and to project management
Ability to prepare and present information for project management staff one on one and in groups
Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
Attention to detail, advanced organization skills and follow through is required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Strong computer skills with ability to learn and use software systems to carry out reporting functions is required
Ability to make suggestions for improvements based on findings and all related follow through and follow up
Must be able to accept critical feedback and make changes
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast paced environment
Well versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors
Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Previous experience in the (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) A/E/C industry is preferred, but not required
Construction accounting experience is preferred, but not required
Experience as a cost engineer, cost analyst or project cost accountant is preferred
Travel Requirements
0-15% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
Quiet environment
Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds
