POSITION SUMMARY:
Exceed our customer’s expectations by providing extraordinary service in the areas of product knowledge, project support, efficient, timely, and over-the-top friendly service. Our primary objective is to never tell the customer no but instead, to find a creative way to exceed their expectation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Seeks out and engages customers. Enjoys providing service to others.
- Answer phones within three rings and greet customers immediately upon entering the store.
- Follows the B.E.S.T program with every retail customer every time.
- Provides carry-out for every customer.
- Accurately follows the mix/tint procedure.
- Understand and practice all aspects of the mix procedure without fail.
- Follows the will call program. Ensures all completion date commitments are met with the order properly logged in will call.
- Ability to perform color tint and match requests.
- Ability to sell blinds and wallpaper. Knows how to complete the purchase order and the transaction.
- Follows policy and procedure concerning inventory control making sure that inventory movement is properly recorded.
- Supports and maintains high store standards.
- Thorough understanding of POS system and full scope of transactions.
- Manages and balances their assigned cash drawer.
- Repairs, cleans, troubleshoots, and rents equipment to customers and is fully aware of the rental paperwork process.
- Provides customer service at a level that ensures every customer leaves happy while looking for ways to go above and beyond.
- Shows and educates the customer on the advantages of purchasing the highest quality products that meet their project need.
- Immediate and positive response to all customer requests including deliveries, color matches, and special needs.
- Accurate posting of sales to customer accounts, following procedures, instructions and approval codes for exceptions.
- Properly processes all point of sale transactions paying particular attention to special instructions on screen.
- Is able to meet level II/III minimum expectations of the Training Matrix within 90 days of position.
- Ability to take draw down and regular orders by phone 1st 90 days.
- Works safely, alerts managers of concern, reports incidents immediately to store management.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
May be the key holder, opening and closing the store as directed. May provide technical and procedural guidance to the Sales Associate I.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Up to 2 years prior experience in retail or related field with stable work history.
- Ability to write and communicate technical verbiage to customers at an advanced level.
- Ability to read at an advanced and technical level to understand and educate customers on technical information from Data books, MSDS’s, inventory and receiving.
- Knowledge of the Product Data Book, with growing understanding of MSDS book.
- Complete and thorough knowledge of the mix procedure.
- Knowledge of paint basics covering primers, stains, and interior and exterior paints.
- Solid working knowledge of receiving, inventory replenishment, cycle counts and inventory reconciliation.
- A growing knowledge of products, becoming more equipped to take on technical questions and solve problems.
- Basic math skills.
- Successful completion of the Rohm and Haas technical exam within the first 90 days of employment.
- Ability to follow directions accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Enjoys working with the public and solving problems while representing Miller Paint Company with a positive and enthusiastic outlook.
- Competently and safely use tint machines, shakers, forklift/pallet jacks and hand trucks.
- Understands the full function of the POS system.
- Effectively multi tasks and is able to keep pace with customer and business flow.
- Ability to read and comprehend English in order to read packaging, safety procedures and formulas.
- Ability to work flexible hours Sunday through Saturday including overtime as needed.
- Valid driver’s license for state of residency or ability to travel within Oregon and Washington in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle or Miller Paint Company vehicle, must provide proof of personal auto liability insurance.
- Overtime may be required during season.
- Knowledge of calculator, POS, telephone, fax and copy machine.
- Understands and applies MPC procedure, policies and maintenance of store standards
- Valid driver’s license for state of residency or ability to travel within Oregon and Washington in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle or Miller Paint Company vehicle, must provide proof of personal auto liability insurance.
