We are seeking motivated applicants for a full-time Personal Lines Account Manager to assist in producing new accounts and servicing and retaining existing accounts. Responsibilities Include:
- Receiving phone calls and office visitors requesting quotes, changes to the existing coverage, and/or new policies. Complete changes/requests within 24 hours of receipt. Determine carrier placement, complete applications or endorsements, and collect premiums when applicable.
- Review existing accounts to determine if additional lines of insurance should be solicited by mail and/or phone prior to renewal. Solicit new business opportunities with clients for lines of coverage not currently written by the agency.
- Actively solicit increases in limits and/or coverages, rounding out accounts through new sales to clients across lines of coverage.
- Actively seek referrals from the current client base to solicit new business prospects; follow up to generate new business using prospect database and automation system.
- Document all material conversations with insureds and/or carriers regarding exposures and coverages.
- $35,000 to $45,000 based on industry experience plus commission.
- Schedule: Office hours are Monday thru Friday 9 am-5 pm.

Miller Phillips Insurance started as Miller Insurance Agency in 1966. Agency founder Rod Miller started selling for Erie Insurance while still working for Armco Steel in Butler PA. When the timing was right, Rod became a full-time agent, working from a small office in the basement of his home. Through the years, the agency offices have been in several different locations, but always within the Borough of Saxonburg, PA.
Rod’s daughter Michelle Miller Phillips got her start in the agency in June 1992. Michelle quickly got ingrained in personal lines. Michelle works closely with policyholders that have young drivers and is very adept at advising changes as policies are reviewed to meet those needs. In addition to strong product knowledge, Michelle has a very active role in the management of day-to-day agency operations.
Michelle’s husband Matt Phillips came to the agency in May 2003. Prior to that, Matt worked for nine years in the steel industry. Matt brought with him a strong sales and management background that was developed covering a sales territory that included all of western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. This background has served him well in working with our commercial clients.
In early 2006, it was decided that Michelle and Matt would purchase the agency by year end and transition to Miller Phillips Insurance Inc. The buyout became official January 1, 2007. Since that point, the agency has experienced steady growth, gained overall internal efficiency and improved product offerings.
