Role

On a typical assignment, an Actuary is responsible for:

  • Contributing to the vision of a given project
  • Overseeing the execution of the project
  • Coordinating communication with clients
  • Directing consultant participation
  • Supervising Associate Actuaries & actuarial analysts
  • Complying with internal quality control guidelines

On a typical assignment, an Associate Actuary would be responsible for:

  • Developing analytical methods & calculations
  • Supervising the inputting & manipulating of data
  • Performing predictive modeling using Generalized Linear Models & non-linear methods using mostly the SAS & R software platforms supporting rate analyses
  • Preparing & submitting state regulatory filing support
  • Checking work for technical accuracy
  • Supervising actuarial analysts

Qualifications

Required:

  • A college degree, preferably in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, or other quantitative major
  • Fellowship (FCAS) received within the past five years.
  • Technically proficient in Excel
  • SAS, R or SQL programming experience required, proficiency preferred
  • Experience in property/casualty actuarial ratemaking &/or state regulatory filing strongly preferred
  • Predictive modeling experience preferred

Office:

Milliman is a firm of consultants & actuaries serving the full spectrum of business, governmental & financial organizations. This position is based in Milliman’s San Francisco office. Applicants must be willing to work onsite at one of the offices listed on this posting. The San Francisco, CA office houses one of the largest casualty actuarial consulting practices on the West Coast. Our San Francisco office is located in the Financial District, an easy walk from BART & most commuter bus lines.

Compensation:

The base salary for the position will vary with the candidate’s qualifications & experience. In addition, we offer a significant performance-based bonus plan, profit sharing, & generous benefits.
