Millmac Corporation (www.millmac.com) is a maritime oriented company providing new construction, fabrication, consulting and project management services to marine companies on a world-wide basis. Millmac Corporation has a current need for a full-time Safety Manager in its Bartow, Florida facilities.
Essential Functions

- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
- Identify “near misses.” Instill a cultural of exposing and discussing “near misses” so as to prevent accidents
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Research environmental regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in environmental health and safety)
- 5 years’ experience as a safety manager or related field
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards - OSHA 30, OSHA 10
- Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
- Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
- Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies
- Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills
- Experience with Structured Steel

Supervisory Responsibility
This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities but may supervise another Safety professional in the future.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at manufacturing job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This employee may be required to work nights and weekends based upon business needs.

No travel is expected for this position.
