LEARNING SUPPORT RESOURCE TEACHER
The Milwaukee Rescue Mission’s Cross Trainers Academy (CTA) is a K4-12th grade Christian Academy in the heart of Milwaukee, serving students and families who are searching for a strong academic learning experience in a gospel-centered environment. As a Choice School, CTA is committed to offering a comprehensive, student-centered educational experience that serves the whole student.
Cross Trainers Academy is looking for a full-time Learning Support Resource Teacher to provide expertise and intentional instructional support to students who demonstrate behavioral, social and academic challenges. Learning Support Resource Teachers provide special direction to students who are not meeting grade level expectations or Individualized Education Program goals (I.E.P) (Tier 3). Working with classroom teachers and parents, Learning Support Resource Teachers push in to the regular education classroom, as well as work in small groups to achieve the students learning goals. This person is innovative, teachable and knowledgeable about what motivates a student to grow academically, socially, and spiritually.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Align, modify and adapt curriculum with CTA identified academic and WI DPI learning standards to support students with special needs
- Develop thorough, engaging lesson plans that meet modified grade level and/or IEP/Tier 3 goals
- Prepare and maintain a neat, organized and engaging classroom environment, including leading children in the proper care of curriculum materials, furniture, and property.
- Engage students in the learning process and implement effective classroom management practices, including universal school wide methods introduced through professional development
- Establish Tier 3 intervention instruction. Support the development by designing Tier 3 interventions for students who have IEP goals or will be referred for special education, including differentiation of lesson delivery, scaffolding instruction, establishing data driven interventions, working with regular education teachers for increased practice and instruction. Assist students in subject areas that are weak academically and/or need organizational support.
- Attend and participate in scheduled devotional, in-service, committees, faculty, parent meetings and IEP meetings or SRT meetings
- Fill in as needed for additional roles such as dismissal monitors. May be asked to attend after school or special student events as chaperones.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Regular Education and/or Special Education
- Teacher certification preferred, but not initially required (we are a Milwaukee Choice school – candidates have 3 years to complete this)
- Experience in an urban teaching environment preferred
- A mature Christian with a servant’s heart who is able to relate well with others in a culturally-diverse population and willing to serve in an urban environment of significant need
- Strong instructional. classroom management. motivational and reflective skills
- Proven skills in leadership, group facilitation, communication, and data collection
- Excellence in time management and organization that leads to efficiency and learning
- Exceptional listening, assessment, problem solving and conflict resolution skills; perceptive and objective
- Demonstrate patience for working with students who may have serious learning disabilities
- Competent in the following platforms: Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, PowerSchool
- A workplace demeanor consistent with a Christian church environment: civil, respectful, polite, and responsive
- Be in agreement with and subscribe to the MRM Statement of Faith and the MRM Statement of Biblical Convictions
- Be a committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is evident in personal testimony and Christian conduct
- Pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
