What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front of House Customer Service position at MindTravel?

Seeking music and culture-lovers! MindTravel is in need of a greeter / check-in person for a pop-up modern immersive classical music activation in Westbury, Long Island. This is the perfect opportunity for a community-minded individual who recognizes the power of music for healing and transformation. The ideal candidate is outgoing and engaging, while also maintaining an atmosphere of mindfulness for the space.

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming and checking in ticket holders
  • Assisting attendees with purchasing tickets
  • A light setup and breakdown each shift
  • Assisting attendees with purchasing photography prints, as needed
  • Maintaining a neat and orderly space for attendees

Commitment: 5-15 hours / week to start, with the potential to increase. This is a six-month residency with the potential to extend.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work on their own; only one staff member per shift
  • Comfort with utilizing iPad or similar
  • Night and weekend availability
  • Reliable transportation

About the experience: Distanced Together is an immersive symphonic work and sound installation from MindTravel creator and composer Murray Hidary. It premiered with a 60-musician orchestra at the iconic contemporary museum MASS MoCA in January 2023 and lives on as an evergreen audio installation featuring 60 speakers. Described by MASS MoCA director Kristy Edmunds as “triumphant,” Distanced Together takes participants on a journey of emotional healing through the uncertainty of the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic capturing the emotional arc we all went through emerging on the other side with the strength of the human spirit.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 15 per week

  • Weekends as needed
  • Weekends only

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Westbury, NY 11590: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
