Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications.  With design, sales and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits’ products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Mini-Circuits’ sells its products to over 20,000 customers globally through our direct sales force, applications engineering staff, sales representatives, as well as through our extensive website.

Position Summary:                        

The objective of the Engineering Project Manager (EPM) is to facilitate the release of RF Essential products from inception to product release to market.  The EPM accomplishes this by working with the RF Essentials and other cross functional teams to come up with the implementation plan, getting the plan approved and then executing the plan for a given product.

Salary Range: $73,700 - $110,500 per year

Job Function:

  • Direct Project Management:
    • Works independently or in conjunction with a product design engineer on product development projects
    • Works to develop productive working relationships with cross functional departments members that are involved in product design, characterization, qualification and the release to production and / or the release to website
  • Project Definition:
    • Accurately define the projects purpose, scope and objectives (performance, budget, cost, timeline, ROI assessment, the project budget, project deliverables and key milestones and project resource requirements
    • Project Definition includes the agreement and commitments from the supporting functional departments to the project objectives
  • Project Planning Work and Resource Allocation: Assisting Design Engineers with the planning of new Product Development projects (i.e. the assignment of milestones, schedules, budgets, product costs, deliverables, risks and mitigation plans, resources constraints)
  • Project monitoring, Reporting and Escalation:
    • On a regular basis, document the status of the work effort relative to the plan using various project tracking tools
    • Capable of executing projects in accordance with established procedures and guidelines (opening, closing, data tracking integrity)
    • Upon request, develops project’s objectives. Reporting includes escalation of projected project shortfalls in a timely manner to affect the appropriate corrections
  • Project Performance: Responsible for the attainment of the of the project objectives including the review of project deliverables for coverage and quality.
    • Works with the department managers of the various functional department to assign resources to the project to successfully achieve the project objectives
    • Collaborate closely with Procurement team to focus on timely and adequate supply of materials for Engineering and Manufacturing Assembly to support deliverables
    • Working with the supporting Design Engineer to document characterization test plans
    • Continuous collaboration with the supporting Design Engineer, QA representative and Manufacturing Engineering representative to define product qualification plans
    • Partner with the Manufacturing Process Engineers and Engineering Test Department to assign pre-production, characterization test and qualification resources
    • Creating documentation including BOMs, new processes and planning materials
    • Driving the development between Engineering and Publications for the catalog (website) datasheets and marketing sheets
    • Closing projects in accordance with established Procedures and guidelines
  • Conducts evaluation of the Applications Request Special business case based on product price/volume, cost of manufacturing/test and development time
  • Apply engineering judgement to identify technical complexity, risks and risk mitigation strategies
  • Design cross functional schedule requirements based on previous experience and depth of dive across functions.
  • Identify Product qualification requirements
  • Follow and create documentation requirements such as product data sheets and required performance graphs and specification tables
  • Requires knowledge of product generation process (PGP) and technical requirements at specific phase gates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; master’s degree in electrical engineering preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with a BS (degree), will accept 1 year of experience with MS (degree) in project management in an engineering environment or similar industry.
  • Strong research, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Project Management, ERP and PLM tools (JIRA, SmartSheet and/or Arena desirable).
  • Proficient in the use of Excel for database management (sorting, filtering, processing, categorizing, graphing skills are essential).
  • Proficient in the use of PowerPoint for generating Engineering, Sales and Marketing presentations. Graphing skills are essential.
  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident (green card holder) due to ITAR compliance.
  • Third Party Partner Product Project Management: Mini-Circuits undertakes product development efforts with parts designed and manufactured at international Mini-Circuits facilities or OEM partners’ facilities. Mini-Circuits Project Managers will take the project management responsibility of some or all phases of development through product release.
