Position Summary:

The High Frequency Micro Assembly Technician is responsible for supporting the team leader in tasks such as installation of micro components on Printed Circuit Boards like resistor, capacitor, IC, etc. with soldering, welding, reflow and special processes. This position will also perform electrical joints on wires, terminals and connectors in high soldering levels that require minimal amount of soldering. Mechanical assembly, such as connector installation into to the case and high precision placement of pins, assembly under high magnification microscope settings, and Bonding of components, PCB, and other materials by epoxy and chipbonders will also be a significant part of the role.

Salary Range: $20.30 - $30.40 per hour

Job Function:

  • Assist and guide lower-level assemblers.
  • Train new members in the department.
  • Take responsibility for the department when the team leader is not present.
  • Acquire department needs such as fingercots, soldering wire, solder paste, etc.
  • Monitor ESD log sheet.
  • Install components such as capacitors, resistors, ICs, etc. by soldering, reflow and welding processes.
  • Use Conveyor Oven, Hot Plate, Stand-up Oven or similar in curing assembly parts.
  • Use dispensing machines for bonding components, PCB, and other assembly related materials.
  • Operate machines such as cutting dies, installation dies and other assembly related machines.
  • Install microscopic components on PCB.
  • Cutting and bending component leads such as quad leads, resistors, etc.
  • Mechanical assemblies such as terminal installation, PCB mounting into the case, etc.
  • Wire welding and bonding into components and PCB.
  • Soldering of cans to header and connectors to case.
  • Wire cutting, stripping, and tinting.
  • Use and maintain hand tools such as pliers, tweezers, soldering tools, thermometers, screw drivers and other equipment.
  • Follow procedures and drawings. Recommend improvements and detect errors in the assembly process to the team leader.
  • Fill out paperwork and other necessary documents upon starting and completion of a run.
  • Review own work and check for errors and other abnormalities.
  • Enter run information in the computer such as Clock ON and OFF. Retrieve drawings and procedures for the run.
  • Assist engineers in building prototypes and qualification assemblies.
  • Follow all company procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Minimal supervisory skills, assistant to Team Leader.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • High Level soldering certification
  • 3 years of experience in electrical assembly or outside related experience.
  • Read, write, and orally communicate in English.
  • Interpret and understand assembly drawings.
  • Able to perform assembly under a microscope.
  • Able to use a soldering iron.
  • Able to perform reflow solder with conveyor oven.
  • Able to distinguish and use common hand tools such as pliers, tweezers, etc.
  • Familiar with basic computer operation.
  • Able to guide and show members how to perform their work.
  • Ability to distinguish colors in accordance with Ishihara test for color blindness.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand and walk to assembly equipment such as reflow ovens.
  • Ability to work in an environment with constant noise from manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to work while wearing chemical masks and gloves.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
