As a Highway Construction & Investigations Auditor you will conduct complex highway construction project audits and analyze MnDOT construction activities, accounting and engineering data to ensure compliance with state, federal, and project requirements. This position assists the unit supervisor and the Audit Director with the implementation and direction of new policies to aid in the continuity of workflow. This position is expected to maintain confidentiality, discretion, a high degree of ethics, accountability, and professionalism.
Responsibilities include:
Perform technically complex highway construction audits, special reviews and investigations.
Provide training and assistance to less experienced auditors and participate in professional development training.
Serve as technical expert for the unit’s Teammate workflow system.
This position will have the option to telework; the employee will be required to complete a telework agreement.
In-state travel is required up to 25% of the time; this includes some overnight travel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of professional auditing experience that includes:
(*NOTE: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (with an accounting concentration) substitutes for one year of professional experience)
- Experience conducting financial and/or performance audits and/or investigations.
- Experience applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), operational auditing concepts and compliance with auditing principles.
- Experience analyzing financial data and legal compliance requirements, including laws, federal regulations, and state rules, policies, and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accreditation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Construction Auditor (CCA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
- Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted government auditing standards (Yellow Book) and/or the Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government (Green Book).
- Demonstrated knowledge of highway construction engineering specifications and auditing engineering data associated with highway construction projects.
- Knowledge of or experience with a DOT and/or the Code of Federal Regulations applicable to DOT’s.
