Minnesota Epilepsy Group is the largest and most comprehensive adult and pediatric epilepsy program in the Midwest. As a regional referral facility, we are the recognized leader in treating epilepsy and other seizure-related conditions in infants to the elderly. We are a national, state-of-the-art, Level 4 epilepsy center committed to enhancing each patient's quality of life and maximizing seizure control. We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized accountant to join our team. The accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger system, including daily balancing/reporting and bi-weekly payroll processing.
Accountant Duties & Responsibilities
§ Maintain and reconcile assigned bank and general ledger accounts, research reconciling items to determine corrective action required
§ Online banking transactions, accounts payable check and NACHA file uploads, create and submit weekly deposits
§ Participate in month-end close activities including preparation of journal entries/imports complete with appropriate supporting documentation
§ Review invoices and supporting documentation, investigate discrepancies, weekly processing of accounts payable
§ Responds to inquiries regarding accounting policies, procedures and concerns from management, vendors, and regulatory authorities
§ Generate and distribute the departmental financial reports and custom reports in Excel
§ Assist in the budget, year-end projection, and close processes
§ Maintain and develop automated accounting systems, controls, and procedures
§ Update process documentation for accounting processes assigned
Payroll Duties & Responsibilities
§ Provides support to Human Resources Manager in payroll
§ Responsible for payroll reporting on CBA dash
§ Responsible for all benefit invoices to ensure that all are allocated and accurate for review.
§ Reviews all Union payroll related timesheets and shift differentials
§ Accurately supports in the preparation of time-sensitive biweekly payroll activity to ensure “on-time” procession of individuals pay.
§ Review and approvals of W4 forms submitted by employees
§ Create the MN Wage Notices for employees after salary and/or benefit updates
§ Reconcile Payroll Tax Quarterly reports
§ Performs additional duties assigned
Basic Qualifications
§ Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
§ Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently meeting established deadlines
§ Self-directed, ability to perform detailed work independently, as well as in a team environment
§ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
§ Strong interpersonal and communication skills
§ Ability to evaluate processes and make suggestions for improvement
Preferred Qualifications
§ Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications, accounting (Intacct), payroll (BerganKDV) and electronic medical record systems (eClinicalWorks)
§ Experience in building custom reports
§ Accounting or finance experience in a healthcare setting
