JOB DESCRIPTION:
Dickinson Parks and Recreation (DPR) is currently recruiting for the
Executive Director position. The Executive Director will lead a parks
and recreation district that is comprised of 28 full-time and more
than 300 part-time employees and provide oversight to an annual
operating budget of $6.2 million. DPR owns and manages more
than 1,800 acres of park land with 30 miles of recreational trails
and creates programs and places for citizens and visitors to enjoy a
wide variety of recreation throughout the year.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Administration, Recreation or
- Eight years of experience in a director or executive leadership
role; or an equivalent combination of training, experience,
and education that provides the required knowledge, skills
and abilities.
- Current certification in CPR/First Aid/AED; or ability to obtain
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP)
SALARY/BENEFITS:
Starting salary range is $90,000 - $105,000 and will include the
standard full-time employee benefits of the DPR.

Dickinson is a city in Stark County, North Dakota. The population was 25,679 at the 2020 census. Since
the North Dakota oil boom, the city has become one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. It
has grown into a regional center for a variety of activities, ranging from medical care and business to arts
and entertainment.
Dickinson is also considered the gateway to Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the many recreational
opportunities to be had there. Dickinson itself is a city of fun-filled attractions, popular annual festivals
and a downtown that comes alive with on-street summer concerts.
Department & position
Dickinson Parks and Recreation operates under a Board of Commissioners and Executive Director
structure. Dickinson Parks and Recreation is responsible for Patterson Lake, Heart River Golf Course, West
River Community Center and the West River Ice Center along with numerous other facilities, parks, special
