POSITION:
The City of Lakeville is accepting applications for a Recreation Program Coordinator. This
position is responsible for developing, organizing, coordinating, and supervising assigned
programs for the Lakeville Area Active Adults.
2022 salary range for this position is $36.02 - $44.92.
The hiring range is $36.02 to $38.77, DOQ

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
1. Responsible for providing programs and services for Lakeville Area Active Adults at the
Heritage Center. The programs will be primarily focused on, but not limited to older adults.
2. Recommend needs for program adjustments to increase or maintain levels of participation
that meet the social, recreation, physical and educational needs of the participants and the
community.
3. Coordinate scheduling for recreation, education, trips and special events.
4. Assist with the development of the Lakeville Area Active Adults budget. Administer City
Council approved budget as authorized.
5. Collaborate with local businesses, schools, senior housing, home health care, medical
facilities, area older adult coordinators, and other agencies to provide comprehensive
recreation opportunities in the City.
6. Serve as liaison to the Lakeville Area Active Adults Advisory Committee in the
administration of programs. Assist the committee and special active adult committee
meetings as required.
7. Prepare communications and marketing relative to programs which include newsletter,
news releases, informational bulletins, social media and other communications designed
to interest and inform the public.
8. Responsible for hiring, supervision and evaluation of Heritage Center Administrative
Assistant's as well as Center volunteers and paid instructors. Provide leadership and
ongoing review and feedback concerning department goals, projects, and priorities. Assist
with recruitment as directed.
9. Responsible for hiring, supervision and evaluation of Heritage Center Facility Attendants.
Provide leadership and ongoing review and feedback concerning rentals, projects,
priorities and the building.
10. Maintain records including but not limited to attendance, class participation, membership,
donors, mailing lists, weekly, monthly and annual reports.
11. Assist with other department special events and other responsibilities that may be
assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.
12. Supervise collection and accurate recording of money.
13. Oversee daily operations of the Heritage Center facility including daily maintenance issues
and, insuring the safe operations of the facility.
14. Administer fund disbursement programs such as CDBG, Silver & Fit and Financial
Assistance programs.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
The Recreation Program Coordinator:
Is under the general supervision of the Recreation Manager:
Provides regular communication to Parks and Recreation staff in order to develop effective
communication channels with the Department.
Communicates and partners with other recreation program staff to streamline processes,
programs, policies, and procedures to ensure the community is receiving the best service
possible.
Serves as the immediate supervisor to the Heritage Center Administrative Assistants,
Facility Attendants, and other assigned volunteer staff and maintains a safe, positive
environment for the Heritage Center.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Knowledge of or experience in gerontology.
Skill in developing, promoting and managing older adult programs that attract participants
and contribute to their well-being.
Ability to listen to others for understanding of their needs and situations and communicate
effectively, both orally and in written form.
Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
Proficient with various computer applications, including Microsoft Office 2016, Publisher,
registration and facility software.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force;
Work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel,
frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking and reaching with
hands and arms;
Work has standard vision requirements;
Vocal communication is required for conveying detailed or important instructions to others
accurately, loudly or quickly;
Hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to
make fine distinctions in sound;
Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection
involving small defects and/or small parts, operating machines, operating motor vehicles
or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities;
Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in parks and recreation administration or related field.
Two years of working experience in the organization and supervision of recreation
activities and volunteers.
Possess a valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Working experience in a municipal environment.
