PURPOSE:

Secure financial support through grant applications, corporate proposals, and research. Support the development department’s fundraising efforts.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in grant or sponsorship proposal writing; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Creativity, collaboration, and flexibility are required.
  • Able to write successful grant proposals; fulfill promised benefits; monitor and report outcomes to funders.
  • Be organized, detail oriented, dependable, able to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks on time and on budget within a cross-functional and cross-institutional team environment.
  • Experience working within CRM databases; Altru or other Blackbaud products preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB DUTIES:

  • Research potential grant opportunities and assess alignment with the museum's mission and strategic goals.
  • Develop and write compelling grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funder priorities and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with museum staff to gather necessary information for proposals.
  • Manage the grant application process from submission to reporting, ensuring compliance with deadlines and requirements.
  • Manage the business partnership program, including strategizing acquisition of new business partners, relationship management, and renewal processes.
  • Provide key support to Associate Director and VP for corporate fundraising program, including proposal preparation, benefits fulfillment, and reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with funders, providing updates, reports, and acknowledgments as required.
  • Align grant activities with broader fundraising strategies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar to track deadlines and deliverables.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating institutional data; support reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) for development department.
  • Engage in professional development and maintain an understanding of trends in nonprofit fundraising in order to make strategic decisions related to this work.
  • Participate in development department success by improving processes, sharing information, and contributing new ideas.
  • Assist with prospect research across all development functions: individuals, foundations, government funding, and corporations.
  • Perform all other duties required.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Primarily a sedentary office environment with desk, computer, phone, and files. Must be able to reach overhead and handle items approximately 20 lbs. Must be able to move about the entire Minnetrista 40-acre campus. Work schedule flexibility is critical; some work evenings and weekends may be required.
